Juneteenth 2023

The Third Annual West Hartford CommUNITY Juneteenth Celebration is scheduled for June 17th in Blue Back Square. Organizers are busy planning a day filled with entertainment, family activities, hands-on art projects, speakers, and local vendors. We welcome the Hon. Darryl Brackeen Jr. to the pulpit on for a special sermon commemorating Juneteenth.

Author Talk Featuring Brackeen Following worship in the JPW Library. Brackeen will discuss his recently published book, The Almost Forgotten: America’s First Black-American Congressmen, which examines the lives and legacy of 19 Black American congressmen. Hear how these formerly enslaved men or free Black Americans overcame one of the worst periods in American history to work for the good of the nation.
